Sanitation Requirements for Salons

State Requirements for Salons & Clients

At Artistex, we take great pride in our salon sanitation practices and remain committed to exceptional sanitation to ensure everyone’s safety. To comply with state COVID requirements for salons, we will implement the following mandated measures. This ensures a safe environment for both clients and the Artistex team while allowing us to continue working regularly. We ask that you adhere to the state requirements outlined below to facilitate a smooth and safe visit:

- Stay home if you are sick or have been in contact with someone who may be ill. We rely on your cooperation to help us prevent any potential contamination. If needed, we are happy to reschedule your appointment for a later date.

- Masks must be worn at all times. Please wear a mask that secures around the ears, as we cannot accommodate masks that secure at the back of the head or neck.

- Our employees will also wear masks at all times. Face shields, gloves, and eyewear will be used upon request or as necessary to protect our staff while working closely with clients. Stylists will change PPE between all clients, and while PPE can be uncomfortable, we will ensure they have time to breathe and rest between services.

- Services that necessitate mask removal will follow specific safety requirements, and detailed instructions will be provided by the service provider at the time of service.

- Facial services can be performed with an Artistex provided fitted adhesive mask or without a mask, following strict protocol as outlined by our estheticians during your appointment.

- We will allocate time for thorough cleaning of all working stations, seats, surfaces, and tools between clients, reinforcing our commitment to salon sanitation practices.

- Scheduling may be limited to adhere to state COVID requirements, booking appointments at 50% capacity and adjusting hours to accommodate the mandated number of clients in our space.

- Social distancing measures will be enforced, with workstations arranged to maintain a six-foot distance between stylists and clients. Shampoo chairs will be limited to those spaced six feet apart.

- Client draping or capes will be either laundered or disposable, limited to single-use for hygiene purposes.

- All professional tools will undergo a three-step sanitation method, including cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing, before being individually wrapped in sterile bags.

- Due to the potential for blow-dryers to circulate the virus and create an unsafe environment, blowout services may be unavailable during periods of high local virus numbers.

- Private rooms are available upon request for services, provided both the client and stylist are comfortable, with limited availability.

- Our cafe services will remain closed until further notice, but individual cold beverages will be available.

- Fitting rooms in the salon area are closed; we recommend wearing clothing that doesn’t require a smock change. Smocks and capes will be provided over your clothing, and spa services will be conducted with a robe or wrap in the spa room.

- The child play area will remain closed until the virus is eliminated or further notice.

- If you’re using a personal tool kit from Artistex, please ensure all tools are disinfected after each use to protect the service provider during your visit.

- Hand sanitizer will be available upon entry and throughout the salon and spa for client use.

- Product refill station products will only be available during full service and must be in a clean container or a sealed Artistex bag. Soiled bottles will not be serviced.

- Plastic dividers will be installed as barriers wherever necessary to enhance safety.

- Touch-free credit card services are encouraged and should be used whenever possible. Credit cards without touch-free capability can be stored safely using an encryption service for future use.

- As per state mandates, businesses are responsible for all individuals who visit. Not adhering to the state-mandated requirements listed is a health code violation and exposes the business to a $1000 citation per occurrence. We appreciate your cooperation in following these requirements to help us prevent such issues.

At Artistex, we also prioritize sustainability by responsibly recycling chemical and service waste while adhering to state COVID requirements. To accommodate these added expenses, we have implemented an environmental/sanitation (Sani/ECO) fee of $5 per visit instead of per service. This is necessary to prevent price increases and we have suspended all discounts at this time, including special pricing, friends & family discounts, free offers, and rescheduling discounts. We understand many clients have enjoyed these benefits, but it is not sustainable to continue them right now. Daily Sanitation Practices

With the growing concerns for our health and safety being taken into consideration all over the world and locally, we would like to inform all of our clients about Artistex Salon safety measures, including our current sanitation practices and additional precautionary methods we have implemented to meet COVID requirements salon-wide.

Sanitation of Spa Tools (nail/skin) and equipment includes the use of germicide and/or barbicide to wash all spa tools after each individual use. After washing, the spa tools are sterilized in a UV sterilizer. Sterile spa tools are then placed into sealed sterile bags for proper storage until the next use.

Pedicure bowls are lined with a plastic wrap and disposed of after each individual use. In addition to the sanitation liner, bowls are wiped and sanitized after every use. To reduce any contamination, our pedicure bowls are jet-less and easily removable for sanitation.

For waxing services, waxing applicator sticks are individually wrapped or stored in closed containers and dipped only once into the wax pot to ensure sterilized use and prevent contamination.

Salon tools such as hair brushes, combs, and clips are cleaned, disinfected, sterilized, and wrapped or placed in sealed sterile bags for singular use. These items are stored within a clean drawer for the next appointment.

Daily laundry is conducted on-site to limit the possibility of contamination from outside laundry sources. Towels, robes, wraps, and spa slippers are washed after each individual use, adhering to our salon sanitation practices.

Currently, we are not using dishware. Normally, we utilize a dishwasher to clean and sanitize all of our dishware daily, and hand washing of dishware is prohibited.

Common surfaces and door handles have always been wiped down regularly. We have taken extra precautions regarding the cleaning of common surfaces throughout the day, with a minimum of twice-a-day cleanings. These surfaces include counters, chairs, door handles, cabinet knobs, product pumps, faucets, and any other commonly used areas.

Hand sanitizer is readily available for clients and employees. Additionally, soap has always been provided at all washing sinks, and employees are required to wash hands between services.

Gloves are provided for a multitude of services throughout the salon and spa, including coloring, hair washing, keratin treatments, nail services, waxing, and skincare services.

The Kids Room is currently closed until the virus is eliminated or further notice. Surfaces are wiped down regularly with a disinfectant, and toys are sprayed with Lysol disinfectant. We have always cleaned this room daily, but during the virus season, we will clean after each child's use. We kindly ask that you keep sick children at home. With schools being closed, we have limited the number of children using the room together to siblings only and highly encourage booking the room in advance at no charge when bringing in children during your services. Prior to each new family using the room, we will need time to sanitize the area. We appreciate your understanding during this inconvenience as we prepare the room safely.
