State Requirements for Salons 

We have always taken great pride in our sanitation practices. We will continue to practice exceptional sanitation practices to keep all of us safe and in addition we will apply the following state mandated requirements: 

  • Stylists will wear masks, face shield, gloves and eye wear to protect themselves while working in close proximity to clients and change PPE between all clients. The PPE is extremely hot to work in and can become unhealthy, stylists will have time between each service to allow a break to breathe and rest. 
  • Time allotted for thorough cleaning of all working stations, seats, surfaces and tools will be performed between all clients. 
  • Salon is limited to scheduling appointments at 50% capacity and rearranging hours to accommodate the mandated number of clients in our space with a maximum of 5 clients at one time. Only the client being serviced can be in the salon. 
  • Social distancing will apply while visiting and work stations have been arranged to keeping a 6 foot distance between other stylist and clients being serviced. Shampoo chairs have been limited to the use of those 6 feet apart. 
  • Client draping or capes will be laundered and or disposable and limited to singular use. 
  • All tools using a 3 step sanitation method including brushes and combs will be cleaned, disinfected, sterilized and then individually wrapped in sterile bags. 
  • Blowdryers have the ability to circulate the virus and create an unsafe environment. They also produce an unhealthy amount of heat as the stylist is working with the PPE and will not be available in main salon area at this time. We hope services requiring a blowdryer will be available soon. Necessary blowdry services will take place in isolated rooms with air exhaust extractors, if both client and stylist are comfortable. Please understand not all stylists are comfortable taking a risk to do a blowdry. It is also very hot under a mask and shield, and can make for an unhealthy work environment for the stylist. 
  • Cafe services will be closed and discontinued. Individual cold beverages will be available. 
  • Product retail shelves will not be self service. Bottle caps are secured and shelving is behind a separation to prevent contamination. Stylists will provide a product prescription during service to be prepared by front desk or ordered online for curbside pick up. 
  • Product refill station products will be available at full service only and using a clean container. Soiled bottles will not be serviced. 
  • Cash and checks will not be accepted. Touch-free credit card services are available and should be used whenever possible. Credit cards without touch-free capability can be stored using an encryption service and secured for future use.
  • Client Acknowledgement Form is filled out and submitted prior to appointment date agreeing to compliance.  Click on form below. 
  •  Per the state mandates, businesses are responsible for all persons that visit the business. Not following the state mandated requirements listed is a health code violation and exposes the business to a $1000 citation per occurrence. Please help us prevent this by following the requirements listed. Thank you! 


 State requirements come at an added expense and for this reason we have applied an environmental/sanitation fee of $5 per visit and suspended all discounts going forward. This includes any special pricing, friends & family discounts, free offers and rescheduling discounts. We understand many have enjoyed these benefits and regrettably it is not sustainable to continue these benefits at this time. State Requirements for Clients

While we are doing everything we can to keep you safe. We ask you to follow the state requirements below to ensure a smooth and safe visit for all clients and the Artistex team: 

  • Stay home if you are sick or have become in contact with someone who may be sick. We are trusting and counting on you to protect us from any possible further contamination. We are happy to reschedule for a later date. 
  • Masks will be worn at all times. Wear a mask that secures around the ears. We are not able to work around a mask securing across the back of head or neck. 
  • Waiting areas, spa lounging areas, saunas, steam showers, child playroom, coat hanger and fitting rooms are closed.
  • Only the client being serviced can be in the building. We understand that at times a family or friends come to be serviced together and then typically wait for each other. Unfortunately this violates the state requirements and exposes us to a $1000 per occurrence citation should there be a complaint. Therefore only clients actively being serviced can be in the building. This includes children. Please plan accordingly.
  • Once you check-in by calling us or coming to the front door only, please wait in your car until we are ready. 
  • Wear clothing that does not require protection to change into a smock. 
  • The child's play area is closed until this virus is eliminated. 
  • Hair must be clean prior to arriving at the salon for services. 
  • If you have purchased a personal tool kit from Artistex, please have all tools disinfected after each use to protect the service provider as they use the Artistex kit during your visits. 
  • Hand sanitizer is provided upon entering and through out the salon for use. 
  • Best part of our job is conversing with you! Unfortunately the state is requiring we limit conversation to what is required for service. This will help prevent the spread of the virus and reducing the stress to the stylists as they learn to work with wearing the PPE. 
  • If you have self colored hair not instructed by Artistex. Prior to visit, a special consult to determine time booked and corrective pricing will be done over the phone or zoom call. Expect that self coloring is often a corrective coloring service, requiring more time in the salon and additional pricing. 
  • To respect all clients scheduled appointment times. Services may not be able to continue if services were not properly scheduled and confirmation is not received. Charges may apply.

Daily Sanitation Practices

With the growing concerns for our health and safety being taken into consideration all over the world, and now locally, we would like to inform all of our clients of our current sanitation practices, additional precautionary methods we are implementing.


The cleanliness of our store is always a top priority for us that we take very seriously! Now more than ever it is important that we all do our best to participate ensuring the health of our community, and to help any virus from spreading. This will also prevent overwhelming our health care providers and health care facilities. In addition to our regular daily cleaning procedures, increased sanitization measures are being added as a precautionary method. 


The following is currently practiced daily and much has always been part of our regular cleaning routine for over 20 years;


Sanitation of Spa Tools (nail/skin)and equipment;

  • Germicide and/or barbicide to wash all spa tools after each individual use.
  • Spa tools after being washed are then sterilized in a UV sterilizer.
  • Sterile spa tools are placed into sealed sterile bags to properly store tools until next use.

Pedicure Bowls are lined with a plastic wrap and disposed of after each individual use. In addition to the use of the sanitation liner, bowls are wiped and sanitized after each use. To reduce any contamination, our pedicure bowls are jet-less and easily removable for sanitation after each use.


Waxing services; waxing applicator sticks individually wrapped or stored in closed containers, are dipped only once into wax pot to prevent contamination and sterilized use of wax.


Salon Tools; Hair Brushes, combs and clips are cleaned, disinfected, sterilized and wrapped or placed in a sealed sterile bag for singular use. Items are stored within a clean drawer for next use.

Laundry is done daily on site to limit possibility of contamination from outside laundry sources. Towels, robes, wraps and spa slippers are washed after each individual use.


Glasses/Mugs; We are not using dishware at this time. Normally the we use a dishwasher to clean and sanitize all of our dishware daily. Hand washing of dishware is prohibited. 


Common Surfaces and door handles have always been wiped down regularly. We have taken extra precaution in regards to the cleaning of common surfaces thru the day with a minimum of twice a day. The surfaces include; counters, chairs, door handles, cabinet knobs, product pumps, faucets, any other commonly used surfaces.


Hand sanitizer is readily available for clients and employee use. In addition, soap has always been and is provided at all washing sinks. Employees are required to always wash hands in between services.


Gloves; gloves are provided for a multitude of services through out the salon and spa. Gloves are used for coloring services, hair washing services of all kinds, keratin services, nail services, waxing services and skin care services. 

Kids Room; Is currently closed until the virus is eliminated. Surfaces are wiped down regularly with a disinfectant. Toys are wiped down or sprayed with Lysol disinfectant. We have always cleaned this room daily but during the virus season we will clean after each child use. We ask that you keep sick children home. With schools being closed, we have limited the number of children using the room together, to siblings only and highly encourage the booking of the room in advance at no charge when bringing in children during your services. Prior to each new family using the room we will need time to sanitize the room. We understand this is a popular area for children when visiting with us and appreciate your understanding during this inconvenience to properly prepare the room.
