• Metal foils cause a known adverse reaction when mixed with hair coloring products. 
• The reaction breaks the hair being lightened in the metal foil and leads to thinning hair, especially when used under a heat source. 
• Ammonia based color and metal combined can produce heat. The result is breaking hair, melting or liquify the hair. Under a heat source this is worse and can cause permanent damage to hair or skin.
• Metal foils get very hot when used under a dryer and can cause thermal burns.
• Salons using metal highlighting foils produces 195 million tons of waste in our landfills ever year with metal foils. 
• Metal foil that have been treated with a hair color or lightening product during a hair service cannot be recycled or repurposed without toxicity.

The Foil used in our Window Display are not compromised with food, heat and or chemicals and therefore will be recycled and or repurposed. 

We re-purpose hair clipping with Green Circle Salons to help keep our planet clean and develop better resources. Learn how:

• hair clippings are made into various Humanitarian Products like Hair Booms. These are used to help absorb toxic oils from spills and illegal oil waste in natural water supplies. Hair is a natural absorbent of oils. Placed into water supplies absorbing oils while protecting wildlife.

Knowing which bin to place waste and how to properly recycle, repurpose and or throw into garbage aka landfill can be confusing. So many rules! No worries....we have simplified it. All of our bins will be labeled with the following and the examples. If you don't know or have an odd item, either take it with you or ask. We are happy to help!

• Recycle Bin: plastic, metal and glass bottles that are NON-REFUNDABLE only please.
• Refundable Bin: Water bottles, soda, sparkling water and any drink container made of plastic, metal and or glass that has the .5 cent or .10 cent tax on the container.
• Plastic Wrap Bin: thin plastic wrapping of items and used to sanitize our tools. We ship our plastic wrap to Green Circle Salons for proper disposal and repurposing.
• PPE Recovery Bin: PPE masks, gloves, disinfectant wipes. We ship our PPE to Green Circle Salons for proper disposal and repurposing.
• Landfill Bin: Biodegradable items and everything else of garbage that goes straight into our landfills. Think before using. Thank you!

We handle these but just so you know;

• Chemical: hair color, acetones and other products we may use during your service. We do not want them in our drains and ultimately getting into our water supplies. Therefore, we collect them and ship our chemical waste to Green Circle Salons for proper disposal and repurposing.
• Hair Bin: every time you hear the sound of our central vacuum its the sound of helping the planet.  We ship hair clippings to Green Circle Salons for repurposing. #ArtistexSustainability #FashionablyGreen

Consumption is inevitable. In many ways businesses cannot avoid this and many times the nature of what we do requires it. State regulations often require it to keep our licensing and many times the cost will influence how we do business. How we dispose of our consumption is a choice. We choose to be responsible and pay to responsibly dispose of the following and other products with Green Circle Salons.

Plastic Wrap used for sanitation purposes and PPE are either Biodegradable or repurposed into:

• used in waste-to-energy process to create Clean Renewable Energy used to power places like homes and businesses.
• safely incinerated. Ash can be used to make filler in asphalt and construction materials like bricks

Hair Color Waste is Repurposed into:

• Clean Energy Sources...love it!
• Separated into water and oil. The Water goes back into the water supplies. The oil is blended into fuel.

How cool is that! Who knew that every time you color your hair you are creating a fuel source!
